Country songstress Lauren Alaina donned an animal print, flamingo-hued Carolina Herrera gown, emanating charm and strength, while showcasing her powerhouse vocals at the 2019 Nashville Symphony Fashion Show. She performed her No. 1 smash, “Road Less Traveled,” to uplift the Schermerhorn Symphony Center crowd.

Alaina also belted out her new single, “Ladies in the ’90s,” written in reverence to ’90s female role models including Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Britney Spears, Deana Carter, TLC, Dixie Chicks, Reba McEntire, Spice Girls, Christina Aguilera, and more. The throwback anthem celebrates a time when female singers were widely represented on radio, which inspired the young singer’s career.

Wes Gordon, Creative Director of Carolina Herrera New York, served as the featured designer for this year’s event. Gordon heads the creative strategy for the label, across all brand platforms. He was raised in Atlanta but moved to London to attend Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design. He then rooted himself in New York City for a time and while there received the Fashion Group International’s Rising Star Award and becamea finalist for the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund. Gordon served as consultant for Caroline Herrera before landing in his current role. His first runway show for the House was the spring 2019 line, presented in New York City.

At the Nashville event, a voluminous, floor-length, rosette print gown, in sunny yellow and blue, helped kicked off the runway show, quickly garnering the crowd’s attention. Other highlights included swingy mini dresses in electric hues, worn with flats over bare legs, and maxi-length, punchy-pink (fall 2019’s dominate color) gowns perfectly suited for special occasions.

Proceeds from the 2019 Nashville Symphony Fashion Show fund free concerts, classroom activities, hands-on instruction and more for Middle Tennessee communities and help sustain the symphony’s mission of achieving artistic excellence.
