Dan + Shay took the stage at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards as winners, having accepted the award for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Tequila” prior to the telecast. The excitement over winning their first Grammy was palpable  as Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney

The duo donned all black suits and performed a paired down version of the ballad from a circular stage in the middle of the crowd, illuminated from behind.

Mooney’s rich vocals took center stage as he played piano, while Smyers provided backing vocals and harmonies and strummed his guitar.

As the song came to a crescendo, the lighted screen behind the duo lifted to reveal a symphony. The song ended with Mooney hitting an extended final vote that had the entire crowd on its feet.
