Superstar Carrie Underwood hosts a wholesome day of fun in the sun in the official video for her new single, “Southbound,” filming a lakeside party full of family and friends.

Mixing behind the scenes footage of her Cry Pretty Tour 360 with shots of a postcard-perfect BBQ by the water, the clip was directed by Jeff Venable. It finds Underwood and her guests grilling out at a sunny campsite, mixing fruity drinks and enjoying tons of forever-young tomfoolery, featuring cameos by tour mates Maddie & Tae, husband Mike Fisher and son Isiah.

The upbeat and lighthearted “Summertime” is the third single from Underwood’s sixth album, Cry Pretty, and was written by the star alongside David Garcia and Josh Miller.

“We get in a room, and I had the title. I was like this sounds like fun, I think. We can do something fun with this,” shares Carrie of the song. “So, Katie, we wanted to make her like have a little too much fun, but for every line we came out with, it was like well we don’t want her to be like – we don’t want it to be sad. We still had to make Katie have a little respect but wanted to just get it out there that some people were having too much fun. It surprisingly took us a while to write it but by the end of it, it was like, ‘Well, this is a lot of fun.’ I feel like everybody kind of gravitated towards that one when we were all done with it.”

Last week Underwood performed a dazzling version of “Southbound” live from Nashville’s Parthenon on the CMT Music Awards, where she also picked up trophies for Video of the Year and Female Video of the Year for “Cry Pretty.” Her Cry Pretty Tour 360 rolls on with dates across the entire U.S. through Halloween.
